Content Delivery Network Best For Worldwide Reach

Trying to reach a worldwide audience? A content delivery network (CDN) is he way to go. The whole idea is to push your content from a node closest to your audience. This blog is pushed out of CloudFlare which delivers it worldwide with the least amount of network hops.

This world map shows this cdn’s node locations in major cities. If your audience is closest to one of these nodes, they will be better served by the cdn, rather than a fixed location.

This blog post is a plug for CloudFlare that i love! They offer so much in their cdn even on the free plan. Even if your running a small blog on shared hosting, CloudFlare can benefit you. Caching your content (html, JavaScript, and css) files increase your sites speed. And that content is distributed to each node you see above making it accessible closest to your audience.

And lets not forget about encryption. Anyone who is serious about serving web content is doing so via https encryption. CloudFlare provides top of the line transport layer security often referred to as (ssl-tls), even on their Free plan. They also provide an origin cert to install on your server.

With all the bad actors worldwide, spam bots, content scrapers, CloudFlare’s firewall can’t be beat. Even again on their unbeatable Free plan the firewall is feature packed. It’s a cinch to block, challenge, or JavaScript challenge troublesome countries. Also apply different rules to autonomous system networks (ASN) of IP ranges, keeping trouble makers at bay.

Setup is as easy as letting cf scan your existing website, then change your current name-servers to point to cf. Give network propagation a few hours and you should be good to go. I suggest full encryption, download and install your origin cert. Any questions sound off below!
