E9 accidentally fledged at 7.22am this morning! E9 had hopped to the porch to wingersize as usual and slipped coming back to the nest. You can see E9 land below the nest and a few seconds later, flies off to the west pasture. Congratulations E9! E9 is 73 days old today. Thank you for watching!

E9 flew from a west pasture tree at 10:40am and returned to the nest pasture perching in the cam 2 tree and the old cam 1 tree where he watched his surroundings, hopped branches, vocalized and wingersized.

A new perch for E9 in the old cam tree found him “feeling the breeze” and showing off sustained wingersizing and fancy footwork, on and off the perch. Video credit: wskrsnwings

Has the Eaglet been doing any flying since departing the nest? When was the last time it was fed?

Could be, don’t see it today. Hopefully the high winds didn’t blow the baby from the tree branch it was on. Normally they come back to the nest or hang out in the nest trees branches after fledged.

Before sunrise, when the infra red light was still on, he was hopping around, very high, then flew just to the left of the camera. He didn’t return. One of the parents came to the nest and was calling very loudly.

Thanks for the info. We had a storm line come through last night, winds today are rather strong. Hope the little fellow is OK.

I think E9 is about to leave the nest sure would like to see his first fish caught so we knew he could get by alone. I don’t think they feed thier young after they leave the nest. I hope someone keeps us up to day on E9

This little Pip is growing in leaps and bounds. I hope they can instill in him/her to stay in the nest for at least 8 weeks; so far he/she appears pretty adventerous.

Really love Harriet and M15. I do not care about them leaving the egg where it is. Sad for them that it did not hatch but they have E9. He is so adorable. Love seeing them every day.

So far her 2nd egg has not hatched. Doubting it will at this point..

Mom is keeping the sole eaglet well fed so it’s looking good. One is better than none.

What will happen to the other egg if it doesn’t hatch?

    Reply
    1. FidoSysop

Good question, it will probably hatch late that could be a problem. One late born eaglet at Decorah North didn’t make it last season.
